The news comes after Gordon Taylor, chief executive of the Professional Footballers’ Association urged players to ask for help with any issues which concerned them about the death of the former Welsh manager.
Last night, Peter Kay, chief executive of the clinic which was set up in 2000 to help sporting figures mainly with alcohol and gambling problems, said an unusually high number of players were turning to his organisation for grief counselling.
