People are now more likely to talk about their problems than ever before


NEARLY two-thirds of Irish people believe it is now more acceptable to talk about their problems than it was in the past, according to a new poll.

The poll, commissioned by the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, shows a positive shift and means more people are likely to talk to a counsellor or psychotherapist, said the organisation’s national director, Naoise Kelly.

However, he said it further underlines the need for regulation in the area, backed up by the fact that four in five Irish people believe there should be a watchdog overseeing such services.
