Counselling centre set up at EFLU


Following the suicides of two students at the English and Foreign Languages University(EFLU), the administration has finally woken up to the need for a counselling centre on campus.

Eminent city-based psychologist Dr Niranjan Reddy, professor of clinical psychology(retd) inaugurated the new facility catering to both employees and students on Monday. After the suicides of two scholars Mudassir Kamran and Mohamed Mohiuddin, there was a rising demand for an in-house counselling centre for addressing personal, mental health and substance abuse issues.

Apart from personal and group counselling, the services at the centre will range between self assessment and life skills development through interactive sessions, self-confidence building measures, interpersonal relations, stress management, measures to combat suicidal tendencies among other issues.
