Personal experiences of counselling and psychotherapy
I think I had a mild sort of post-natal depression, but I didn’t realise it at the time. I thought I was tired, inexperienced and a bad mother – and that I would get better fast. My best friend noticed I wasn’t coping and spoke to my husband about it. I was paranoid about telling anyone, especially my doctor, as I was scared they would take my baby away. We looked online and found someone locally who thought they could help. My friend babysat while I went for a good talk and cry. I went for about 3 months all told and I was really pleased that we managed it privately, just between us.
