Therapist - Paignton

Paignton TQ3
Sessions from £50.00

Features

  • Flexible hours available

Availability

I currently have spaces available on a Friday morning and a limited number of evening sessions, so please feel free to contact me if you feel I can help support you.

About me and my therapy practice

Making the decision to see a counsellor can feel really daunting and it's so important to find someone that feels right for you and you feel safe with. It may be that you are certain that you are ready to start therapy or you may feel unsure and just want to get in touch to find out some more about the process. I welcome enquiries from everyone. Having an initial call via phone or online allows you to ask any questions you may have without any pressure to proceed.

I offer one to one therapy face to face or online. Our work may be shorter term (around 6 sessions) or longer term depending on what you need. I work with adults, young people and children from my practice situated in Paignton.  (Please note, I do not work with young people younger than 16 online).

I am an integrative counsellor, but I am informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS - please see my website for further information); I offer a variety of ways of working depending on you and what you bring. You may feel more comfortable with traditional talking therapy or you may find it useful to work creatively to find your solutions such as using a sand tray, drawing or painting, or using music. Whatever you decide, we will move at a pace that feels right for you.

Practice description

My philosophy

I really believe in the importance of providing a space to arrive just as you are and to move at your own speed. It's human nature for life to feel up and down and some sessions will look different than others depending on how you are and what you need. Working collaboratively allows us to find the best way forward for you.

My approach is to support you to find your own answers and your own way through. We are the experts on ourselves, but sometimes we get stuck and we just need some support to find out what we need, where to go next, or to see a way through. I really believe that therapy can offer this.

What I can help with

People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. It may be that you have a particular issue that you are struggling with; anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, relationship difficulties, a bereavement, or it may be that you aren't really sure where to start and you just need a space where you can share some thoughts and get some support to find a path forward. I believe that I can offer help in any one of these situations if you feel that I am the right person for you. I am happy to answer any questions or queries you might have without you feeling obligated to move forward if it doesn't feel right for you.

My first session

When you first make contact with me we would arrange a time to speak on the phone or online. This call would last 15/20 minutes and provide you the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have and to decide whether you would like to move forward with an initial appointment.

If you did decide to proceed, in our first session we would talk about what had bought you to therapy. We would look at how we might work together and discuss confidentiality and keeping your data safe. We might then make an agreement about how many sessions you would like to have, or it may be that you would like to keep things more open and have regular check ins about how you feel things are going and if you have any specific goals that you would like to work toward.

What I can help with

Abuse, Addictions, Anger management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Child related issues, Depression, Eating disorders, Identity issues, Infertility, Loss, Neurodiversity, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sex-related issues, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stress, Women's issues, Work related issues

Creative therapy, Integrative, Play therapy, Relational

Clients I work with

Adults, Children, Older adults, Trainees, Young people
