About me and my therapy practice
Relationships. Family. Work. World events. Life. They can all get too much to cope with alone and you may find you need someone to listen to and understand how you really feel. You might not even know how you feel and that’s where I can help.
I’m Amanda and I trained as a psychodynamic individual and couple counsellor and psychotherapist at Tavistock Relationships – recognised nationally and internationally as a leading authority on couple relationships.
I specialise in open-ended therapy that will allow you to reflect on past experiences to make sense of the present. Sessions also focus on seeking to understand unconscious thoughts and feelings and bringing these into consciousness.
When times are tough, it can be hard to believe – but important to remember – you are not alone. I see couples and individuals every week who need help through difficult times and I am here to support you through the process.
Practice description
Relationship counselling and psychotherapy for couples and individuals online and in Hastings and Tunbridge Wells.
Couples often come to see me at a crucial turning point in their relationship, following the birth of a child, after an affair, or when communication feels like it has broken down.
I also see individuals affected by the same issues, plus anxiety and grief, loss, depression or a sense that life may not have turned out the way they would have hoped. Whatever you’re struggling with, having a non-judgmental other, who is able to think when thinking can often feel impossible, can bring relief and a feeling of being understood, perhaps for the very first time.
My first session
We will always have an introductory session before you commit to ongoing sessions, so you can see if I’m the right therapist for you and ‘ending sessions’ will also be scheduled once we decide to bring the therapy to a close.
I also offer single-session interventions, when committing to open-ended therapy might not be necessary but when an outside perspective can be helpful.
What I can help with
Abuse, ADD / ADHD, Anxiety, Bereavement, Child related issues, Cultural issues, Depression, Infertility, LGBTQ+ counselling, Loss, Menopause, Men's issues, Mood disorder, Post-traumatic stress, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Sex-related issues, Sexuality, Stress, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues
Types of therapy
Psychoanalytic, Psychodynamic
Clients I work with
Adults, Trainees
