About me and my therapy practice
Life can sometimes leave us feeling stuck and confused. Feelings of anxiety, and not being deserving or good enough, can seem to come out of nowhere and are even more distressing when we don’t know why we’re experiencing them. They can also manifest in physical symptoms such as panic attacks which can be terrifying. You don’t need to be alone in this; I’m here to help you understand what’s happening and to heal.
These things don’t actually come out of nowhere; at the root of the pain is a part of ourselves that has been hurt, usually early in life, and carries feelings such as sadness, guilt, shame and disappointment in ourselves. These feelings remain unprocessed in a part of us which is known as the “inner child”. Most of us deal with this by pushing the pain into the background so that we can keep going with life. This is known as “keeping on keeping on” and it’s very draining! We end up soldiering on, but we continue to carry the original pain, and this can impact on our lives in many negative ways such as lack of confidence, low self esteem, people pleasing and unfulfilling relationships.
Therapy can help us to heal the original wounds that continue to cause the pain. We can identify unhelpful beliefs that hold us back, and as a result feel lighter and more free to be ourselves. Gaining insight can be a great release, and when we change our thoughts we can change our whole life.
