About me and my therapy practice
Counselling gifts you a quiet hour in which to explore your inner world. It exists outside the day-to-day. Sessions take place in a quiet cabin looking out onto the trees. Nature supports the therapy and creates a space in which we can gently sit with whatever arises.
Practice description
My practice is deeply influenced by a self-care technique known as focusing. It is a gentle - but very effective - way of exploring your inner knowing by getting in touch with how your body experiences things. It helps you to ‘be with’ your feelings. We may also spend some time becoming more familiar with your nervous system (polyvagal theory), so that you can learn more about how to settle yourself and savour moments of inner wellbeing.
I hold a postgraduate diploma in integrative counselling and have a background in person-centred bereavement support. I was trained in Petruska Clarkson's integrative five relationship model. This way of working is based upon the understanding that there will be different ways that we are in relationship with each other over the course of a therapy hour, and over the course of our work together.
For me, integrative counselling, is about honouring the fact that there are many different aspects to each and every one of us. We work towards accepting those different facets of the self so that they can co-exist. Using focusing, we will draw upon the deeper wisdom of the body to sit with these places (including those that perhaps feel in conflict, or cut off).
