About me and my therapy practice

Are you in emotional pain, feeling alienated or dislocated from other people? Do you sometimes feel stuck or wish that you could have more satisfying, less stressful relationships? Perhaps your fears and worries prevent you from realising your potential.

I work alongside people to help understand the reasons behind such thoughts and feelings. In coming to understand the patterns of your life, and the often confusing and painful feelings that accompany them, you can begin to make consciously informed choices about how to live. This leads to a more authentic and less critical experience of yourself, opening the way for greater enjoyment in life.

To really understand yourself and how you relate to others takes time. Greater self-acceptance and the ability to more fully express emotions takes time. But it’s time well spent.

I work with a wide range of people, many of whom are experiencing depression, anxiety, loss, relationship issues or the lasting effects of trauma. I believe that together it is possible to both face and move past the personal dynamics that lead to such emotional difficulties.

Practice description

I practice psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy, working with adults from a broad range of life experiences. I trained for a Masters in Psychological Therapies Practice and Research (Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy) at the University of Exeter. I am undertaking further training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and have worked as a psychotherapist in the NHS. In my private practice I offer a safe and confidential space without judgement, where you will be listened to and heard.

Psychotherapy can feel like hard work. Looking at aspects of yourself and your life can be challenging. Psychotherapy works with the conscious and unconscious parts of ourselves, to discover the underlying meanings inherent within the ways we talk about ourselves, our lives, our relationships and our feelings. The working relationship you form with your therapist provides a safe space for you to start making sense of your experience of life.

Psychotherapy is a longer-term form of talking therapy, with no pre-fixed limit as to the number of sessions, although I can also offer more focussed and shorter-term work if you wish.

I am currently working both face-to-face in my practice in Falmouth, and online.

My first session

The working relationship between you and your therapist is central to the therapy process, so finding a good fit can make all the difference. When you feel listened to, thought about, and understood, opening yourself up to another can be transformative. Because of this I prefer to meet for two initial consultations before deciding whether to proceed to therapy. This gives us a chance to see how we might fit together in the work.

Initial consultations last 60 minutes and cost £50 per session.

Should we agree to work together then sessions are 50 minutes long, take place at the same time each week and are charged at £50 per session. I see people once weekly at a minimum but this can be increased to twice or three times weekly.
