About me and my therapy practice

I gained my counselling diploma from Glasgow Clyde college, studying an integrated approach. My personal journey started over 15 years ago, when I needed counselling and the positive change motivated me to support other people who are struggling with difficulties of their own. If you are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, grief, emotional problems or relationship issues, counselling can provide a confidential safe space for connection and understanding. My professional standards are upheld with the professional body of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and I am committed to providing safe working practices.To protect your privacy I am registered with the information commissioner's office, as a data officer, to keep your personal details safe, protected and only for a limited time period.

My way of supporting you is to be person-centred, my focus of attention is on you, though I am not directing you, more, sitting alongside you, as you decide what choices are best for you.  By listening, understanding and gaining a sense of your perspective, I hope to build a connection with you. The relationship is key in counselling and forms the foundation of trust. Feeling understood, heard and accepted supports you in being able to talk about your feelings without being judged. The process of awareness, acceptance and change is directed by you to enhance your autonomy and empower you to make your own choices. Through awareness, change is possible and you are the best person to know what is the right decision for you. I will support you through this process, if you feel that I am the right fit for you.

The process of change occurs through a safe connection, feeling accepted and being able to be yourself with another person.

You are your own expert of yourself. Trust your gut instinct.

Practice description

All sessions last for 50 minutes and can be via the telephone, online meeting, throughout the U.K.

Walking and Talking sessions are available throughout the Glasgow and nearby areas in green or blue spaces, connecting with nature, and yourself.

I work with adults on an individual basis.

The amount of appointments is varied and will depend on how you feel. Sessions are evaluated and openly discussed to ensure that you are benefiting from them. There is no time limit.

After our initial call, if you feel you would like to start your sessions, I will send you a contract to let you make your own informed decision and give consent to the terms.

If you are unsure of anything, please contact me and I will discuss it further with you.

My first session

Our first session is a free introductory one, for you to sense if I am the right person for you. This lasts for 15-20 minutes, via telephone or online.

This is a time for you to feel that you can talk about whatever is causing you concern. To feel heard, and understood.

The focus is on connecting with you and getting a sense of what you are experiencing.

Understanding your emotions, and how it feels can give a sense of relief, that you are able to be yourself and it is ok not to feel ok.

This is the start of your journey and you are not alone.
