About me and my therapy practice

I am an integrative psychotherapist who has studied a broad range of different models and styles of therapy. I work in a way that tailors the therapeutic approach to the needs and wants of my client.

I believe that the therapist/client relationship is the most important aspect of the therapy. I have a warm, open, and relaxed manner and aim to put my clients at ease. I encourage my clients to be as honest and open as they can be about how they are feeling and what's going on for them and hope to offer a nurturing and unjudgemental space for us to explore what's happening together.

I am interested in how my clients are orientating themselves in the world and whether they are connecting to their resources. The work may involve identifying unconscious repetitive patterns of thought or behaviour which may be blocking their growth.

I also work as a yoga therapist so have a deep interest in the body and can focus on somatic processing or offer regulating tools in the form of breathwork and meditation if that is of interest to my clients. I have experience working with a range of different mental and health conditions.

I have a particular interest in bereavement and have worked for CCIWBS and CELBS (bereavement counselling services). My unprocessed bereavement from childhood is what personally brought me to therapy. This has made me passionate and tuned into inner child work, childhood trauma, and reparative developmental therapy.

I use she/her pronouns and am part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Practice description

I like to work psychodynamically (with an awareness of early attachment patterns developed in childhood that might be affecting how clients are relating in the here and now) and somatically (an awareness of the body's ability to process experiences through the felt sense). Working integratively means I can work creatively using a range of tools from different types of therapies such as CBT, existential, and gestalt to help clients process experiences or parts of themselves where they feel stuck.

I also work as a yoga therapist, a thai yoga masseuse, an EFT (emotional freedom) practitioner and an OTA (occupational therapy assistant). I have over ten years of experience in these fields and like to interweave this knowledge of the body and energy into the work.

My first session

Before our first session we will have a 15-20 minute intro call to check we are the right fit and so that you can ask me any questions about how we will work together. If we choose to start therapy together then I will find you a regular weekly slot. I usually advise starting weekly sessions and we can then discuss going fortnightly or monthly later down the line. Before our first session I will send a short form and agreement to fill out. During your first session I may ask more questions than usual just to get a better picture of why you're coming to therapy and to understand a brief timeline of events in your life. As in every session if there is something I ask that you don't want to answer or talk about you are free to say no and I will move on.
