About me and my therapy practice

I am a Psychotherapeutic counsellor offering short- and long-term individual counselling to adults of all ages.

My main role during my working life has been working as a NHS GP with a special interest in mental health. In addition, I have a role as a GP appraiser, and I am also a tutor at Oxford university teaching communication skills to medical students.

I hold a Master’s in Psychodynamic Practice (Distinction) from the University of Oxford following an exacting four-year training.

I am accredited with the UKCP and registered with the BACP.

Practice description

I provide a safe, relational, non- judgemental, compassionate space for adults of all ages. Individual psychotherapy provides a unique opportunity to talk about anxieties, concerns, symptoms, or traumas in complete privacy. Therapy can be transformative, providing a sense of relief, clarity, and renewed hopefulness. I have more than 30 years’ experience working people of all ages in my medical role.

I work with many issues including anxiety, depression, medically unexplained symptoms, bereavement, body dysmorphia, disordered eating, social withdrawal, and relationship difficulties.

My approach is Psychodynamic which is informed by Psychoanalytic theory and practice including :

• Exploration of how past experiences have an impact on the present

• Relationship dynamics: how you interact with and see yourself and others and the world around you.

• Unconscious processes from dreams to all thoughts, feelings and experiences giving a greater insight into your mind and how it influences choice in your life

My first session

First steps

Thinking about starting therapy can feel daunting. Contact me in confidence to arrange a short initial phone discussion at no cost and with no obligation. In that time I can answer any questions you may have and we can start to think together about what you might need.

Email jones.lindaerin@gmail.com

Initial consultations

If after speaking to me on the phone you would like to explore things further, we will arrange two introductory sessions, each lasting 50 minute and a week or so apart. This can be in person or via Zoom. It is an opportunity for me to find out more about you and for us to get an idea of what it might be like to work together. There is no obligation to continue after the two sessions, but if you would like to start weekly sessions we will think about a possible slot, depending on availability.
