About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I believe that there can be times in most people’s lives when they find themselves struggling or experiencing difficulties and when having someone independent, such as a counsellor, to talk to can be really helpful. People can find themselves struggling with a variety of issues such as relationships, work, grief, stress, anxiety, a sense of hopelessness or the impact that difficult past experiences are having on the present day. Maybe it’s one of these issues that has led you to explore the possibility of counselling today?

I aim to offer every client a safe, warm, empathic and non-judgemental space in which to uncover their feelings and explore their choices. By working therapeutically with you I hope to be able to support you to understand why things feel difficult, explore the questions you have while getting to know yourself better and building your sense of self-worth. Through the relationship we build and the work we would do together I hope you would be able to make any changes you wish and find renewed strength, self-acceptance and a positive way forward.

Before becoming a counsellor, I worked for many years with people experiencing trauma and challenge. This work led me to develop a deep sense of compassion and an absolute belief in the ability of people to make changes in their lives given the right conditions and support. I believe that personal therapy can provide just the support needed and for some can be transformative. It’s important that you find a personal therapist who can help you move from difficulty to strength and understanding making the changes you seek.

If you wish to discuss what personal therapy might mean for you then please get in touch.

Practice description

I am a qualified integrative counsellor which means that I draw on and work with a range of therapeutic approaches and techniques weaving them seamlessly into sessions. Central to my practice is the core belief that each of us is unique, and I will therefore work with your specific needs tailoring our sessions enabling you to make the most of our time together. I also believe that the relationship between you and I is crucial to the counselling process. I work with warmth, openness and honesty to build a sense of safety and trust between us enabling you to explore what matters even when it may feel hard, we will work through it together.

My first session

Initial Telephone Consultation

If you feel that you would like to speak with me about what personal therapy might mean for you then I offer a free initial 20 minute telephone consultation where you can tell me a little bit about yourself and what you might be hoping to gain from counselling. I will explain how we would work together, and we can begin to get a feel for what that might be like. You can also ask any questions you may have.

First Face to Face/Online/Telephone Session

In our first therapy session we will have a more in-depth conversation which will help us understand what areas you feel you would like to explore in therapy and identify any areas of concern you might have. It might be your first experience of counselling and together we can explore what that means for you. I will give you a copy of my therapy contract to take away and read, and we will discuss what this means for us both. What happens next will be up to you.
