About me and my therapy practice

I qualified as an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor , which means I work from a variety of theoretical perspectives. For me, therapy is about the relationship. I believe we can learn about past and present wounds and healing through a genuine, caring, therapeutic relationship. My aim is to create safety for my clients to explore any issues or challenges they may be facing.

As we get to know each other, you can decide how far you wish to be challenged and how you would best like to work.

I am not trauma trained and so, if the work is based very deeply in trauma, I will refer to a specialist while continuing, if needed to provide a safe, reflective space. I worked in Mental Health Services for many years and feel that honest, caring boundaries are critical to a working relationship.

I am flexible in terms of how we work - online or face to face - and generally work with people once per week or once every other week. Sessions are 50 minutes in length and can, on occasions, be longer if previously agreed.

Practice description

I qualified as an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor in 2005 and completed a Certificate in Couples Counselling in 2006. I worked for a GP Surgery for a year, seeing clients from a variety of backgrounds on a short term basis. Since then, I have been working in the corporate sector providing one to one support and delivering mental health awareness training. I am a MHFA England National Trainer and run a successful training company. I have missed working with people on a one to one basis though, and have just re-started private practice. I have an holistic approach and am happy to work with people flexibly.

My first session

After your enquiry, I'll send you an initial assessment form. Once you have returned that, we can set up an initial telephone call - this is free. This call will be no more than half an hour and we can then decide how to proceed. At our first session, we can 'contract'. This means that we will discuss your aims and how, or if, we might continue the work.
