About me and my therapy practice

Michelle Blake (MBACP)

PG Cert Autism, PG Cert ADHD, BA (Hons)

Person-Centred Counsellor & Clinical Supervisor

Warm, empathetic, Neurodivergent Counsellor/Coach with lived experience of being both Autistic (ASC) & Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Specialising in working with clients who are neurodivergent either self-diagnosed or pre/post-diagnosis.

My Approach:

I am a qualified and experienced counsellor and now work exclusively in a coaching capacity specialising in supporting Autistic and ADHD individuals as well as their families. I also work with individuals who are exploring the possibility of being neurodivergent (ADHD and/or ASC).

I also provide training and workshops and have recently written a specialised Neurodivergent Parenting Programme, funded by the local council. The programme is delivered to parents/caregivers who believe their children may have ASC or ADHD or who are already navigating parenting a neurodivergent child, in order to educate, inform and empower them on their journey.

Practice description

My Service:

I offer specialised strengths-based coaching support for recently diagnosed and self-identified individuals from around the globe. Strengths-based support is a collaborative, positive approach that helps uncover your strengths and manage your challenges and tailors sessions to meet your individual needs.

I am neurodivergent affirmative, trans, and LGBTQI+ inclusive. I use an online platform for sessions and am sensory-sensitive. I want you to feel at ease during our time together, so please feel free to wear sunglasses to our session, have dimmed lights, camera off, or communicate via text to accommodate your own needs. As each person is unique, I will create a bespoke program of therapeutic coaching sessions that works for you.

Whilst coaching is a collaborative process primarily focusing on change and taking action through self-empowerment of the individual,  my counselling training and experience allows me to draw on both holistic and existential approaches to sessions. This provides my clients with the opportunity to work towards being the best version of themselves as well as exploring and identifing meaning within their lives.

LIMITATIONS:

My goal is to support you to adapt your life to better fit your neurology but as I am not medically trained my role in our coaching relationship is to share my knowledge and expertise around my lived experience and my training, and the responsibility for taking action and applying what you learn is yours.

SESSIONS:

Sessions usually last between 50 - 60 minutes and take place remotely, during a time and day that is agreeable to both of us. The sessions will be on a 1:1 basis and initially, 6 sessions are offered after which a review will take place. During the review, we will collaboratively agree on whether you feel any further sessions are needed. You have the right to end the sessions at any point. Our commitment to working together requires us to be punctual and inform each other if we need to cancel a session.

My first session

I offer an initial consultation of 30 minutes for a fee of £45.00,  whereby we can see if we will be comfortable working together.

We can then agree on whether what you require is short-term coaching or more long-term or open-ended coaching. The number of sessions required will vary from person to person

Reviewing:

I believe in the importance of reviewing regularly how the coaching is going as this is an essential part of the process.

The Services I Offer are all centered around my specialism in ASC and ADHD;
